Research context
BPC-157 is among the most frequently requested compounds in laboratory work on tissue repair. Published research using it concentrates on angiogenic signalling, fibroblast migration and the behaviour of tendon and ligament cells in culture. It is stable across a wide pH range in vitro, which is one reason it appears so often in gastrointestinal models specifically. Almost all published work is in vitro or in animal models.
Handling notes
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water added slowly down the wall of the vial rather than directly onto the cake. Swirl to dissolve, do not shake. Store the sealed vial frozen and protected from light. Once in solution, aliquot before freezing rather than repeatedly thawing the whole volume, because BPC-157 tolerates a couple of freeze thaw cycles and not five or six.
Worth knowing
It is commonly studied alongside TB-500, which is why we also supply the two as a single blended vial. If your protocol calls for both, the blend removes a reconstitution step and one opportunity for error.

The short version
Our best selling peptide, and the one most people in repair research start with. It is a fifteen amino acid sequence first identified in stomach fluid, and most of the research looks at how it affects new blood vessel growth. Worth knowing that nearly all of that work is in animal models.
BPC-157 is a synthetic pentadecapeptide derived from a partial sequence identified in human gastric juice. The research literature is substantial in volume but concentrated almost entirely in animal models, and that concentration is the single most important thing to understand about it.
Where it came from
Derived from body protection compound, a protein fragment identified in gastric juice. The synthetic fifteen amino acid sequence is what is supplied and studied. Published work runs from the 1990s onward, largely from a small number of research groups.
How it is thought to work
No single receptor has been identified. Proposed mechanisms centre on effects on angiogenic signalling, particularly involving vascular endothelial growth factor pathways, and on interaction with nitric oxide systems.
The absence of a defined receptor is worth stating plainly. It means the mechanistic picture is inferred from downstream observations rather than established from binding studies, and it is a live limitation in the literature rather than a settled question.

- Tendon and ligament cell behaviour Fibroblast migration and survival in culture, and healing rates in animal injury models. - Gastrointestinal models The original context for the compound, and where the largest body of animal work sits. Stability across a wide pH range is the property that makes it usable in these models. Store the sealed vial at -20C, protected from light. Sealed and held at that condition it carries a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacture, sealed from the date of manufacture.
