TB-500 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to the active region of thymosin beta-4, an actin sequestering protein present in most mammalian cell types. The distinction between the fragment and the full protein matters when reading the literature, because a good deal of it concerns the full protein.
Where it came from
Thymosin beta-4 was characterised as a major actin binding protein in the 1980s. The fragment supplied here corresponds to the region associated with its actin binding activity.
How it is thought to work
Thymosin beta-4 binds monomeric actin and regulates the pool available for filament assembly. Because actin dynamics underlie how cells change shape and move, this is the proposed basis for observations in cell migration and tissue remodelling work.

Store the sealed vial at -20C, protected from light. Sealed and held at that condition it carries a shelf life of 24 months from date of manufacture, sealed from the date of manufacture. Soluble in bacteriostatic water. Add the solvent slowly down the inside wall of the vial rather than directly onto the material, then swirl gently to dissolve.
